LightMake L4: 1st 4-Head Color 3D Printer with Linear Motors

Four heads, four materials, one print. The L4 puts four independent print heads on a single beltless linear-motor gantry, so a model can change colour or material without a purge tower — the part where most multi-colour printers lose both time and filament.

Four independent print heads

Each head parks and picks up its own filament, and a tool change takes about a second. Because the heads move independently, the machine can also print four identical parts at once instead of printing one part four colours at a time.

A single toolhead on the linear motor rail

The build volume goes up to 354 x 370 x 386 mm, and an optional filament expansion and drying unit takes the material count to sixteen. The closed-loop linear motors are rated for 50,000+ hours with +/-1 um repeatability.

Multi-colour test print

The campaign funded on Kickstarter in October 2026 and is still accepting late pledges. Full specs, reward tiers and stretch goals are on the campaign page.
